Texas Chocolate Pecan Pie – The Ultimate Southern Dessert Classic

  • Author: Maria
  • Total Time: 1 hour 15 minutes
  • Yield: 8 servings 1x

Description

This Texas Chocolate Pecan Pie combines the best of Southern tradition and chocolate indulgence. Made with toasted pecans, rich chocolate chips, and a buttery crust, this pie is the perfect dessert for holidays, potlucks, or any occasion that calls for a sweet slice of comfort.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Pie Crust (optional homemade):

  • 1 ¼ cups all-purpose flour

  • ½ teaspoon salt

  • ½ cup cold unsalted butter, cubed

  • 34 tablespoons ice water

For the Filling:

  • 1 cup light corn syrup

  • 1 cup granulated sugar

  • 3 large eggs

  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

  • 1½ cups toasted pecan halves

  • ¼ teaspoon salt

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

  • Prepare the crust: Combine flour and salt. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Add ice water gradually until dough forms. Roll out and place in a 9-inch pie dish. Crimp edges.

  • Make the filling: In a large bowl, whisk together corn syrup, sugar, eggs, melted butter, vanilla, and salt until smooth.

  • Add mix-ins: Stir in chocolate chips and toasted pecans until evenly coated.

  • Assemble the pie: Pour the filling into the crust. Smooth the top with a spatula.

  • Bake: Place pie on center rack and bake for 50–55 minutes, or until the center is set but slightly jiggles.

  • Cool completely: Allow to cool for at least 2 hours before slicing for clean cuts.

  • Serve: Enjoy slightly warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.

Notes

For a non-dairy version, substitute butter with vegan butter and use dairy-free chocolate chips.

Avoid overbaking; the filling should be slightly soft in the center for that perfect gooey texture.

Pie can be made a day ahead and stored covered at room temperature.
