These puff pastry turnovers are the perfect quick dessert when you’re short on time but still want something delicious. With just a few ingredients and minimal effort, you can have a warm, flaky, and sweet treat in no time. Ideal for a last-minute snack, brunch, or when unexpected guests arrive!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 sheet of puff pastry (store-bought, thawed if frozen)
  • 3 tbsp fruit jam (any flavor, such as strawberry or raspberry)
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • 1 tbsp sugar (optional, for sprinkling)

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • Roll out the puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface.
  • Cut the pastry into 4 equal squares.
  • Place a teaspoon of fruit jam in the center of each square.
  • Fold the pastry squares into triangles, sealing the edges by pressing with a fork.
  • Whisk the egg and brush it over the top of each turnover.
  • Sprinkle with sugar if desired for extra sweetness.
  • Place the turnovers on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Bake for 15-18 minutes or until golden brown and puffed.
  • Allow to cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

  • Feel free to experiment with different fillings, such as chocolate, apple cinnamon, or Nutella.
  • For a more indulgent treat, serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream on the side.
  • If you want to make this recipe ahead of time, you can prepare the turnovers and freeze them before baking. When ready, just bake directly from the freezer, adding an extra 5 minutes to the cooking time.
